My name is Emma Wilson and I am a Mom?

Before I became a Mom, I became a photographer.  Photography has been a huge passion for me since 1993 when I took a job in Ann Arbor, MI selling camera equipment and film processing.  From the first time I held an SLR camera I was hooked.  I worked full time in a studio for six years B.C.  (Before children)  Now, I have a home based portrait business. Having a studio at home, (I find) offers a comfortable atmosphere in which my clients and I, together can create wonderful and personalized portraits.

As a mother I know how difficult it can be control excited or sometimes-reluctant children and babies? especially for a portrait.

It is so easy to get stressed out. The calls, the shopping for outfits, the wait, the kids in front of you, the grumpy Dad in the family behind you, or maybe the family you're with? All Dads just love that family photo session?

Don't forget about the pre-printed stack of 8x10s and sheets of wallets the 11x13 ?. (Who invented that size?)? All that and more will be waiting for you when you return, and, don't forget your keychain! Or, the guilt you will feel when you only getting the minimum package of your little darlings shining face. The worry of spending a car payment on photos you will never use, but just can't part with.

Now that I have brought that vision forward in your mind, let it go.  Our prices are clear and straight forward. I usually know what you were planning to order long before we sit down to view the images. During the session, if not before I will know whether you are shooting for a gift for grandma or some thing for your wall or memory album. I am a photographer not a sales person.

At FamilyWay Photography, we know your time is valuable. We know how long it can take co-coordinating when, where, and what your family will wear for a portrait. Our families ?Our children are our biggest investment emotionally, financially, physically and mentally.  I am willing to invest some of my time to do some excavating for you, for your memories. We can't always settle for a ?B? market? or school photos.

FamilyWay Photography wants to capture the best side of real personalities.  Twenty years from your session I don't care if you remember me? I want you to remember them, your kids? I want for you to look at the portraits we create together and be flooded with memories of who your child was this year? What they loved, how they looked as they walked out that door before school and what they talked about at dinner.  How wonderful it was in the quiet moments and the hilarious ones to.

Now, visualize your pre-planned photo session. Imagine getting an idea in the middle of a private photo shoot, and the photographer says? ?Okay, let's try that!?  How about this? your 8-week-old son is suddenly tired from being pushed in and out of his out fit. The photographer says, ?Why don't we take a little break?  Do you want some privacy so you can feed him??

Familyway photography knows children need to go at their own pace , especially young ones.  All children are different. Some are hams and some are quite shy, all are welcome.

Buy the time your child does come in to my studio we have an idea of what our goals are, and what we will start with. I truly enjoy the challenge of getting a child to ease up by talking about their favorite things. As well as getting a rambunctious child to slow down and tune in. I love capturing a child's true personality and energy on paper.  Each age brings a new dynamic to the surface. It's all good. The softness of a newborn, the roundness of a six month old, the silliness of a six year old, the sassiness of a two year old. The ten-year-old who just now realized that parents don't know everything!  You get the idea.

Age Appropriate Photography     

I do not try to make babies sit up who are too young. Very little babies belong in Mommies arms, or lying down. It is safe, and it just makes sense.

Pets are welcome. Pets are a part of the family. They need to be included. I do not charge extra for this.
